Challenge
In preparation for a big learning conference in London, their website needed to be better aligned with their refined vision. The worry of their website not being up-to-par with the competition they’d be facing was continuously growing.
Deliverables
With some fresh wireframes we were able to direct the content more towards their reimagined company vision. The style direction defined the visual approach for the website to come. And with some helpful UI updates we were able to jack the quality up-to-par with competitors, and even beyond. Helpful and characteristic illustrations were the cherry on top.
The blue-sky style direction
In our previous collaborations with Studytube, we worked on what we like to call a “blue-sky style direction”; A creative outburst where we try to let go of all the possible considerations that might stop us from creating the most striking style direction possible. This was the starting point for the new marketing website designs. However, it needed a final translation to practical handlebars before we could apply this in an effective way. And that’s how the design direction document was born.
Changing the diamond shape
In our earlier designs, we often used diamond shapes over images or in containers, following the older Studytube brand guidelines. During the transition to the new style direction we noticed that the sharp corners of these shapes didn't quite match the rounded style we had experimented with before. Through a new-seen perspective on the diamond we ended up with a new pattern. One with a unique visual twist. This inspired the creation of other shapes linked to the skills and competences that employees at Studytube's client companies could develop. In essence, it aligned perfectly with Studytube's new positioning.
Human centric design
Something Studytube was missing in their current visual positioning and on their marketing website was a more human centric approach. Given their focus on people and their skills (both HR people, Learning & Development professionals *and* employees acquiring new knowledge and skills), it only made sense to implement a lot more photography. Not just in the website headers, but also in larger sized testimonial imagery and even miniature UI illustrations.
UI focused illustrations
Drawing from Studytube's focus on people and skill development, we cooked up awesome UI illustrations. They would blend fun elements with easy-to-use visuals, backing up StudyTube's commitment to accessible and effective learning experiences. Each illustration amps up the essential aspects of the actual Studytube platform UI, showing the journey of skill growth and personal development with fun visuals.
Results
Studytube is now fully equipped with everything necessary to put their new vision to practice. Comprehensive brand guideline documentation for future expansion, along with a complete set of designed web pages. Spoiler alert: the big event, Learning Technologies 2024 in London, was a great success!
