Basketball Stats PRO

We were approached by iOS developer Ladislav Klinc to design an interface for an iPad which keeps score of statistics during basketball games called Basketball Stats PRO. With this app basketball professionals can keep track of whats going on in a game.

We decided on going with an elegant and sleek dark design. Designing the app was quite a challenge considering the data heavy nature of the app.

User based content

Player names aside, most of the apps content is user based, which means the user actually enters information during the game. For example when a point is made or when a foul is committed. At the end of the game the user would be able to see time-specific statistics of that game. We used iconSweets2 icons to represent the four quarters in a game.

Score board

Since the app will be used mostly by basketball professionals we wanted to use some professional and realistic looking UI elements. The first element with a realistic look is the score board. We simulated a LED effect for the actual scores.

Wooden basketball court

The second realistically looking element is the wooden basketball court floor.

The court is interactive; the user is able to tap anywhere to quickly reproduce game situation on the iPad app.

Tappable elegant buttons

There are two kinds of buttons on the pad: static, pre-defined buttons and dynamic buttons in which player names and jersey numbers are loaded. Users mainly enter content on the buttons panel, that's why we wanted to evoke some tapfun with these buttons. We used elegant colors with little saturation to let 'em blend it nicely with the rest of the color scheme.
